Coronavirus Pandemic: Borders Matter According to New Poll

By Timothy Gamble

3-23-2020 - Apparently, national borders do matter to people when it comes to the Covid 19 pandemic, despite decades of globalism.

Reuters just released a new survey of 12,000 people across 12 nations, showing that people now strongly favor security over open borders, and want their national borders closed to non-essential travel, including all tourism, immigration, and most business travel, until the pandemic is over.

The percentages of citizens favoring closing their borders ranges from a high of 79% in India to a low of 51% in the UK. In the US, 62% favor closing the borders.

Percentage of Citizens In Favor of Closing the Borders:

India  79%
Vietnam  78%
Italy  76%
China  73%
Russia  70%
Japan  67%
Australia  69%
United States  62%
Canada  59%
Germany  57%
France  54%
UK  51%
