Get Help for the Holiday Blues

The "suicides increase during the holidays" thing is an urban myth. Studies have shown that suicide rates actually decrease slightly during the holidays, only to rise again immediately after. Still, for many the holidays can be a time of sadness, loneliness, stress, and anxiety. If you or someone you know is suffering from the "holiday blues" please reach out for help.  Talk to family or friends, or utilize the resources listed below.

Folks especially vulnerable to the holiday blues include the elderly, shut-ins, those that lost a spouse or other loved one during the year, and even those who went through a divorce. If you know someone who is alone this Christmas, please reach out to them. Even a quick visit or phone call, a card or a small gift, will show them that someone cares about them.
